OUR VISION

“To facilitate a link between university students and the funds management industry, nurturing the future leaders of the industry in Australia.”

OVERVIEW

Australian Students Asset Management (ASAM) is a Public Ancillary Fund registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission. Students gain practical experience in funds management, supplementing the theory that they are taught in the classroom, making for well-rounded graduates that are ready to enter the industry. ASAM also provides students with the opportunity to connect with experienced professionals, learning more about industry best practice.

benefits to students

Many students graduate University with a sound understanding of theoretical concepts, however many are unable to put this knowledge into practice until they enter the workforce. ASAM aims to bridge this gap by giving students an opportunity to gain experience in a fully functional and fiscally responsible funds management business while still at University.

Beyond further improving their hard skills, students also have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a professional environment, making critical business and investment decisions, developing their presentation and time management skills, as well as having the opportunity to both be part of, and lead a team.

BENEFITS TO CHARITIES

As a public ancillary fund, ASAM will donate 4% of funds under management to registered Australian charities on an annual basis. The charities selected for these distributions will be chosen by our Board of Directors. Charities will be considered for donation based on their ability to demonstrate impact and alignment with ASAM values, among other criteria.

Benefits for the funds management industry

Industry participants have the opportunity to connect with students who are passionate about funds management and are likely to pursue a career in the industry. In doing so, firms are able to shape the next generation of investment professionals, contributing to the success of the industry in Australia.
